Welcome to Glastonbury East Hartford Magnet School — a vibrant and inclusive learning community where curiosity, rigor, and creativity thrive. As principal, I am honored to partner with our students, families, and dedicated staff to provide an exceptional educational experience rooted in equity, innovation, and academic excellence.

At GEHMS, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to explore their interests, achieve personal growth, and contribute.  Our curriculum emphasizes inquiry, hands-on learning, and real-world connections, ensuring that students are not just mastering content—but becoming thinkers, collaborators, and changemakers.

What to expect at GEHMS

• High expectations + strong support. We challenge students to stretch, while providing scaffolds, differentiated instruction, and individualized attention so that all students can succeed.

• A culture of belonging. We honor diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and identities. Every voice has value here, and we nurture a climate of respect, empathy, and shared responsibility.

• Active family partnership. Learning happens best when families and educators work together. I encourage you to attend school events, engage in dialogue, and stay connected to your child’s educational journey. We have a full-time Family and Community Engagement Specialist, Kim Brown-Greene. 

• Innovative opportunities. From project-based units to technology integration, from arts and STEAM experiences, service learning and Art integration with an established partnership with the Bushnell Theatre. Every student also received Mandarin Chinese language instruction!
